Hello friends. My name is Alaa. I’m here with my family in Gaza. Eleven including myself, my husband, and my brothers and sisters, 6 of whom are young children.
Your gift will help us to get food, water, clothing, and medicine. The aid organizations can’t do anything due to the blockade. The only help for us is people like you who donate.
We have endured genocide for nearly 700 days. The occupiers cut off aid in March, and we are now 4 months since reliable food. We are all starving. It is terrifying hearing the bombing all around us each day. My brother and husband go to the American aid site only to come back beaten and emptyhanded.
The only desalination plant for the area was destroyed. Do you know fresh water is only available once a week? We must bathe in salt water. Garbage and sewage piles up and pollutes the water, and we must bathe in it even though it makes us ill.
We didn’t always live like this. My sisters dream of going to university. I myself think about continuing my education. I even secured a scholarship before the war. My brother until recently studied on his phone, but it broke and it costs as much to fix now as it used to cost new. Our dreams are all on hold.
We have travelled constantly seeking safety. My home was in North Gaza. We have been displaced 13 times. First, we moved south towards Rafah. Eventually we moved north to Deir al-Balah and endured the winter in a tent that could barely protect us from the cold and the rain. During this time, I volunteered to help the children of Gaza. So many of them are traumatized by what they’ve experienced.
Most recently we have returned to North Gaza and live in a tent near our destroyed home. The occupiers again want us to move south, but we’ve decided we are not leaving. Not again.
